Syrup Presentation

Each 5 ml Contains:
Cyproheptadine HCL IP 2 mg
Tricholine Citrate 275 mg
Sorbitol 70% IP
(non - crystallising) q.s


Cyproheptadine is histamine blocker, it also blocks serotonin. It produces antiemetic effect by blocking the central muscarinic receptors
Tricholine Citrate is used in the treatment of asthma and in the management of hepatic disorders

Mechanism of action

Cyproheptadine HCL competitively inhibits the binding of the free histamine to its receptor and prevents its negative symptom, cyproheptadine also inhibits the serotonin in smooth muscles of the small intestine thus stimulate appetite

Tricholine Citrate converted into choline which converts the deposited fat into the lecithin and phospholipids. It also reduces the circulating inflammatory mediators

Contraindications

  • Contraindicated in closed angle glaucoma
